Programming in GameMaker

Hey, I was wondering how to start making a game in this app. I am trying to make a fan made game and I was wonder if someone can help get me started on how to do it, like tips and pointers on how to make games in the app.

A question, is GML the same as HTML5? If not, how can i use HTML5 in GamerMaker Studio 2?

I feel dumb for asking but I've been trying to play test on opera gx with html5 but it won't run on it only on chrome and safari. Any suggestions please.
