What do you think?

The game needs more attention!

The games controls are a little clunky but the game as a whole is super fun! Played it here: https://youtu.be/-hu8j5DmBFc

I played the demo. It was good. I had difficulties with how the character moves, but I like the game design, and I'm interested to seeing more enemy designs and concepts. It kinda reminds me of Castlevania at first, but I feel like it can have it's own identity. And yeah I enjoyed playing it.

Here's a link of my let's play if anyone would like to check it out: https://youtu.be/PhbhGcNJZfs

Combat heavy action platformer set in a post-apocalyptic world in which you battle the hordes of The Underworld and the zealots of The Heavens.

Play as Aether, a demi-god demon hunter blessed with the power of Anubis, and Myst, a powerful witch from the organization known as The Covenant.

COMBAT

combat2.gif

Inspired by my favourite action games such as Castlevania (SOTN), and Darksiders, God’s Tear is primarily a hack and slash action game with shooter elements.

Hack and Slash: Perform combos using normal and special attacks.

Weapon Types: Master 4 types of weapons as they each offer a different combat experience.

Tactical Action:  Block, parry, and combos all add up to the combat score which affects item drop rate.

Shooter: Being a mage class, playing as Myst turns the game into more of a shooter. (TBD)

THE POST WORLD

outskirts2.png

After enduring countless wars, the world has become a desolate, unforgiving environment. Demons have started emerging from the depths of Hell, sending human civilization back to the dark ages. Meanwhile the Gods that have been protecting mankind are nowhere to be found.

The fate of humanity lies on the hands of certain individuals, some of whom are demigods whose ancestry dates back to the ancient times, when Gods would roam the land and lay with humans.

Welcome to the Post World.

NARRATIVE

town2.png

Capiz, a remote town to the south has mysteriously been wiped out of existence. Cries and screams of the poor souls drowned the night as they were turned into terrifying creatures called helspawns. Alas, prayers went unheard by the Gods that had abandoned humans a long time ago.

News of demons terrorizing small villages spread across the Post World, prompting several factions to investigate. Meanwhile, a wandering demon hunter learns of the tragedy and makes haste towards the ruined town.

Note: This game is being developed by just 1 person (me), on my spare time. I will need funding in order to shift this into full gear, but for now I'm focusing on building the foundation. Until then I hope you keep supporting the game and to patiently walk with me on this incredible journey.

The primary collectible in God's Tear is the Soul Tear. These items not only unlock new areas, they give stat bonuses as well-- at the cost of a temporary curse! #gamedev #godstear

I've decided to overhaul the combat as I find the old one too button mashy. This time you can swap between 4 weapons. Each weapon type has its own advantages and damage type (Blunt, Pierce, Slash). What do you guys think?

Decided to rethink the main character's costume. I'm leaning towards the rightmost one-- easy to animate while still having some personality. What do you guys think?

Hey everyone!

Dunno if you noticed, but I took a hiatus on the project for about a year. Long story short, I got busy.

I'm back now, and from the time I was away I had lots of time to rethink some of the mechanics and lore.

Boss concept art: Ifraim the Werehorse King

Sitan, also known as a Ferrier of Souls, is an underworld Goddess who helps Aether by providing him intel and acting as a merchant.

Cemetery courtyard concept art. I will use this as the setting for the level 1 boss fight. #gamedev

This week's progress is about adding item pickups and destructible objects. I thought jars and vases would be a good start. #screenshotsaturday
