Avatar frames

What are avatar frames?

Avatar frames are decorative, sometimes animated borders or designs that you can add to your profile picture on Game Jolt to make it stand out and showcase your personal style or support. They can be elegant, flashy, simple, or designed specifically for events, brands, and themes.

How to purchase avatar frames?

  1. Navigate to the Shop: From your backpack, head over to the 'Shop'.

  2. Browse Avatar Frames: Here, you will see a collection of available avatar frames. These frames are created by Game Jolt, individual creators, or brands.

  3. Check the Price: Each avatar frame will have a price displayed in Joltbux, you may purchase Joltbux from the app or website.

  4. Make a Purchase: Click on the frame you'd like to buy, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete your purchase using Joltbux.

Where do my Joltbux go?

When you purchase an avatar frame, the proceeds from that purchase are shared:

  • Game Jolt Frames: A portion will go to Game Jolt to support the platform.

  • Creators' Frames: When you buy frames crafted by individual creators, they receive a share of the revenue.

  • Brand Frames: Purchasing frames from brands will share the revenue with that brand.

This allows you to not only personalize your profile but also support your favorite creators and brands in the process!

Adding your purchased frame to your avatar:

Once you've bought a frame, it's time to flaunt it!

  1. Go to 'My Profile'.

  2. Click on your current avatar or profile picture.

  3. In the pop-up menu, you'll find an option to add or change your avatar frame.

  4. Equip your newly purchased frame and save.

Voila! Your profile picture now proudly displays your chosen frame.

Can I design and sell my own frames?

Game Jolt Creators and verified brands are able to create and sell their own avatar frames. There is a submission and approval process to ensure submitted designs adhere to Game Jolt's Site Guidelines and Terms and function properly. We will email the email address associated with your Game Jolt account to notify if your submissions have been approved or if they need additional changes.

Quick checklist to make sure your avatar frames work properly:

  • Dimensions: 240 x 240 px

  • Filesize Max: 500 KB

  • File type: PNG, APNG (animated)

  • Be sure to keep anything important out of the top right and bottom right corners as it may be covered by badging (like the Creator badge.)

  • Make sure your avatar frames abide by Game Jolt's Site Guidelines and Terms

  • Avatar frames on Game Jolt should promote positive behavior

  • Make sure your avatar frames are distinct from existing ones

  • Don’t use copyrighted materials in your avatar frames. This includes images, music, logos, etc.

Note that if your avatar frames are deemed harmful, hurtful or promote negativity on our platform, our moderation team will remove them with or without notice.

FAQs

Q: Can I refund a frame I no longer want?
A: As of now, all sales of avatar frames are final and cannot be refunded. Choose carefully!

Q: How many frames can I purchase?
A: There's no limit to the number of frames you can buy! However, you can only display one frame at a time on your avatar.

Q: Can non-creators design and sell avatar frames in the shop?
A: Game Jolt often collaborates with creators for special frame designs. Keep an eye on community announcements for opportunities.
