Rock Beyond Time- now out on Early Access

This game isn't 100% complete, and mostly that's in the music department. That being said, what's the deal?

  • It's Windows-only, using GM Studio 1. It's zipped, so you'll have to unzip it.

  • A few of the music tracks aren't complete. So, enjoy some filler music. One is from Castlevania: Bloodlines, and the other's a SiIvaGunner track based on Chrono Trigger/Kiki's Delivery Service.

  • The ending isn't 100% programmed. You'll get through it just fine, but it's not properly synced up to the audio.

  • It's not an HTML5 build. That will come later.

  • Some things might not be as polished in the gameplay, because I haven't bothered with them yet. Hopefully, I'll get to it.

  • I haven't advertised it properly.

Anyway, I hope the few of you who see this will enjoy the game. If you have any problems, please report them. Also, if you can, try to test out the multiplayer aspect, and try to see if nothing goes wrong.

I'm getting closer to my goal here.

All these rock piles are gonna loop indefinitely for now. My goal is to make the road widen, tighten, and move side-to-side with the walls.

...and replace the grassy floor with something more fruitcake-like.

This is the driving sequence in action.

I don't have any original music for that part, and I can imagine that passing-through-flags sound getting annoying after a while.

Here I am, still trying to push the limits. I'm pretty sure there's a shader for Mode 7 out there, but this is what I've been working with.

Also, because of limitations, red flashing floors generate force fields you can bump into.

Maybe this thing needs to be in a big jar.

I realize some players just want to play the game and see the story, while others may actually want to use those revival items, so here's a little compromise for you all.

Also, yes, I NEED to put on that "Pro" flag everywhere.

Trying to do that Infinite Floor thing (technically, it's a trick of the camera), and I think it chugs.

Makes sense, since it's drawing on one surface over and over for each scanline, then putting that on another surface, which puts that on-screen.

Hmm...

Coming soon to another update.

Lemme get some work done with it first, then we'll talk.

He's coming back. ...but just this once.

I was considering releasing the expansion today, but then I found a lot of bugs I should've spotted in the original build, and I made the minimap do extra stuff for said expansion.

Don't worry, it'll be out by tomorrow night.

A step-by-step process for bigger sprites.

GM Studio 1 works like Windows XP's Paint, but with nicer features. As such, even a lefty like me can learn to draw right-handed with a Line tool.
