Status: working on v0.2 | see v0.1 devlog

Project Purple (codename EPS1) is a linear narrative game where the story is put to the forefront. It's not a visual novel with multiple endings, it's not a classic adventure game with puzzles – rather, it's more akin to an interactive movie. The story is set in stone, but you can explore the world, control characters, choose to go down optional side-paths, and get more immersed in the experience.

Story

Follow an energetic young woman as she and her mentally under-developed big bro and insufferable mother get kidnapped to become physical vessels for the dead. The other kidnapped test subjects they find themselves in the midst of are all chaotic or borderline crazy – but she'll have to make do and hatch a plan to escape either way. Can she really rely on her "comrades" or will everything degenerate into madness? Oh well, as long as they somehow succeed in their escape!

Genre: comedy horror

Goals and intentions

Purple is a very short experience that aims at doing three main things:

  1. Give me a taste for the work required to create a game from start to finish.

  2. Create a base framework to potentially use in my first big game – Project Circus – like the code and systems; or at least be a learning experience so that I know what to do and not to do.

  3. Introduce the world I'm building and my style of games/storytelling

Progress update ~

Implemented parallax and interaction markers! I probably still need to tweak the speeds of each layer (even though I already spent a whole day on it )

Backgrounds created using Hugues Laborde's amazing viking asset pack (link in desc)

Yeah, "MC" stand for Main Character – I still don't have any name ideas for her help?

She's the one you'll play as in Purple; energetic but reasonable, she'll lead the escape operation!
She looks a lot like her mom, which I drew a sketch of a while back.

My current project's game page is up! :D

Go follow and stay tuned for a first devlog tomorrow (with a vid and all)

I'm so excited about this, coding so far has been amazing and I can't wait to start drawing/animating/soundtrack-making
