What do you think?

I've only played up to the robot boss so far, but holy crap this is impressive. The various graphics effects are very well done; you've clearly eked out the most of GameMaker's capabilities. I love the fake 3D robots, especially the boss. I'm assuming they were made via sprite stacking, so it's baffling that the boss is so well-animated. I shudder to imagine how long it took to make that. Speaking of the boss, it was really tough and I beat it with only one living character, no remaining 1-ups, and only 1 Huppy left. Phew!

The character's music-based abilities are pretty clever. I wasn't paying enough attention during the initial tutorial so it took me a few minutes to figure out how to sing the puzzle in the graveyard, but it was pretty satisfying once I did.

The character animations are so smooth! Same goes for the overall movement engine. Everything is just pretty to look at.

As a longtime Chrono Trigger fan, I love the CT vibe. Can't wait to see where the story goes.

My only gripe so far is that it can be tough so figure out where to go. I read some dialogue a bit too fast and didn't know where I needed to go, so I wandered around for a while and eventually found my way to the graveyard by fighting through the factory. But hey, classic SNES/Genesis games left players to figure things out too.

As a fellow gamemaker, you've made me reevaluate my own work. :P I didn't know until today that GameMaker can use gamepad rumble. I've gotta look into using that myself!

So yeah, overall, ridiculously impressive. I will continue playing as I have "time." Get it? *bah-dah-ting*

I beat the scorpion boss and the robot boss. I really had to push myself to get there too, because there's REALLY LOOSE directions for where to go.
My main problem is that the game is just a rush through enemies, just treat it like a speedrun, there is literally no point in fighting enemies unless you are locked in with them, which makes their existence kind of pointless.

I fricking love your games, I cant wait for my download to finish so I can play RBT

Wow, Nuke, your game is great!

radical duuuuuude

Note: The main game is built with game controllers in mind, but you'll have to set up the controls first. If you want to play it in multiplayer, you will need one game controller.

A 2-player 2D action-RPG like the SNES games of old, especially Secret of Mana, Illusion of Gaia, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Enter the world of Trula, a world of magic, music, monsters, and modern fantasy. One rock star, Myles Taylor, becomes displaced in time and sent to a future that he thinks he caused. In this future world, he meets Susan Abernathy, a scavenging historian. Together, they will try to stop the demon that attacked Trula years ago.

What other songs have lyrics?

Lyrics for some songs- You And Me (Susan's theme) and Rock Da World Again

Okay, I've put in the head-bob update. No music fix.

...also, I removed the prototype for now. I figure it's a bit distracting, anyway.

I'm thinking of changing the thumbnail.

It doesn't feature any screenshots, but it's less cluttered. Might make it difficult for people to realize it's an action-RPG.

Should I change it to this?

To anyone who knows the Rap Battle scene...

Would you like me to adjust it so they bob their heads to the music?

I've put the raw soundtrack on this page. It's partly a side effect of (failing at) making the HTML5 build.

Enjoy!

Oh, and I fixed a menu bug with Susan again.

I'm about to do something stupid.

I'm gonna attempt to do the HTML5 port.

Without a deadline (except January), with the most recent build, and with a different approach, I don't see why not.

EDIT: Nope. It be broken on that thing... for now.

I think now's a good time to ask:

how do you people play this game?

Pick a language for translation.

...I'm not really fluent in any of these. I studied Japanese. :P

A rather interesting thing I forgot about...
