Game
Project Atral: The Riddle of Durendare

TORUN - the first stallion in the project! Now Rabica's not alone on the island anymore. His textures are work in progress, but i still wanted to see them in the engine before deciding how to enhance them. Torun is currently not playable.

ANIMATIONS:

Meanwhile, all of the new, finished and corrected animations are implemented. The entire model is animated, that also includes a detailed facial rig for the lips, eyes and nostrils. Yes, even the eyes can be closed and the horses are breathing visible.

___

Recently finished:

  1. Idle Grazing

  2. Idle Look Around

  3. Walk

___

Recently reworked:

  1. Trot

  2. Canter

___

Work in Progress:

  1. Jump (150 cm max height)

  2. Gallop

___

MATERIALS:

The mane and tail materials are a bit buggy and i'm trying to figure out how to increase the visibility of them. They are there, just hardly visible.

Sabino fur colors are horribly hard to make. I hope Torun's fur color doesn't look too off. Thanks to everyone on the Mane Quest Discord Server who helped me find fitting references! The dun brindle will be created next!

___

AI PERCEPTION & BEHAVIOR

Also giving my best to fix the damn animation blueprint. At the moment, the horses aren't really roaming around, they are floating around in their idle animations. Idk why it works for the stag, but not for the horses.

___

HORSE CONTROLS

All set up. Camera rotation and zoom work fine. Increasing the walk speed with shift left and decreasing with ctrl left. Turning the horses with A and D, jumping with space.

___

3D MODELS

The foal sculpt is done. The topology needs some slight rework, then i can make UV maps for it and texture it.

I've achieved a lot today. The protagonist and player character - Mikhal - is inside the engine and playable! You won't see his head though, because of first person perspective. Time for a pause! My body hurts from sitting around for so long!

I've worked on the criollo definitivo model. It will be the base for the ingame horses. I have to refine it a bit, then i can reduce the polygon count and texture it.

I have reworked the foal model in Blender. It looks way better now. I only need to model the mouth, teeth and eyes now.

A few behind the scenes pictures for you, if you're curious.

New contents:

- Stairs to the cottages

- Wooden pillars for the cottages

- Door numbers

- Mini Map frame has a higher resolution now

Fixed problems:

- Newly placed trees are no longer standing rotated. Thanks to @KingCobra1998 for the help!

Very quick fix before my development pause. The credits are now fully accessible by the main menu screen and you can close them with the button too.

Part 2!

New contents:

- Floor texture for the insides of the cottages

- Game banner when starting up the project

I've modeled and textured a modular ramp today. All by hand in Blender and Substance Painter. I'm using it for the docks. The Durendares transported horses and wares up and down to the docks.

I've made a horse statue: "founding stallion" of Stud Durendare. I'm not sure yet if i'll keep the penis or not. I was just trolling a bit there. But if you like it, tell me.

It was a sh!t ton of work to do that, but the settings menu and the main menu are now mostly working! In the main menu only "new game" and "quit" work so far. The closing of the settings menu is still buggy. Working on fixing it!
