Project Atral was a personal learning project for Unreal Engine 4. It was fully independent from any investors or funding.

Some textures or base models were created with AI tools and then carefully optimized, reworked or replaced by hand. Think of it as using a hammer or brush – tools that help, but don’t replace my effort. These AI images are mostly meant as placeholders.

I’ve built this game not for profit, but for passion. I wanted to offer something fresh to people who love mystery, storytelling and horses.

2084 - A young man wakes up without memories as a ghost on the abandoned island Atral whose once proud buildings are now overgrown with ivy and rust. Mikhal sets out to discover the truth about the mysterious disappearance of the Durendare family, who once lived on the island. What happened to the inhabitants?

The only survivors are the feral horses, descendants of the noble breeding that was nurtured by the Durendare family. These animals hold the keys to the island's dark secrets. As Mikhal roams the ruins, he must put together the pieces of his lost memories and uncover the terrible fate of the Durendares.

Can you uncover the mysterious events and solve the riddle of the Durendare family before oblivion devours the last truth?

Minimum hardware/system requirements for Alpha V2.0:

Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit)

CPU: Quad-Core 2,5 GHz

Memory: 8 GB RAM

GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 580 (with 6 GB VRAM)

Drive Space: 3 GB (SSD recommended)

DirectX: Version 12

The alpha version will run on older CPUs as well (e.g. AMD Ryzen 7 first gen or Intel Core i7-7700), but the experience may vary. The project is being optimized for lowclass and midclass gaming PCs. It should not be played on weak office laptops.

From 26th to 30th may i will have a lot to do in RL, so i won't be able to develop my project next week.

Some bugfixes and new features. (Read the article.)

The audio settings are now finally fixed and i can move on to fixing the dialogue, that went buggy, when i fixed the audio settings. After that i'll fix the graphics settings.

I've just implemented an auto run feature, because sometimes the distances between major plot locations are quite big, despite that the island is only approx. 2,1 km² small.

The graphics settings menu can now be accessed in the main menu. The audio settings are being saved now, but still have no effect on the audio. Still trying hard to fix this. Sadly this caused a few strange bugs with the trigger boxes.

Thanks to my playtesters @jellomutt and @Gandur i was able to figure out all of the current bugs in my project. Thank you very much! I'll be focussing on bugfixing the next few days.
