Aight pull out your notebooks:
Nothing wrong with manifesting your goal every step of the way, but I've seen a lot of people lately act like they define success as betting on changes they expect to happen overnight, or with just one big step.....and they could not be further from the truth.
See...
It's easy to get on a site like this one, see all of the GJ "paid" creators and go, "wow, if they have that many people following them, the site's population must be big enough for a lot of people to come across my work and want to follow me too and help me make money!"
I have learned the hard way that doesn't happen, it's more nuanced than that: Not every post will come across the FYP of every user immediately, it may be days, weeks or months before any one user will see it due to the site's saturation. Like you, those GJ creators started out smaller than you, maybe somewhere else if not here. And the one thing you can't tell was how long they had to keep posting golden content to multiple platforms that ignored the hell out of em, how much they had to network, how often they had to prove themselves and surpass themselves to get where they are.
I see lots of people just waiting for the "right" circumstances to expect noticeable traffic/ask for help, but said circumstance is not found, nor does it come, it's BUILT.
Even your best content will take a lot of time to be noticed on any platform, and statistically, only a small percentage of whatever following you have - usually 10% or LESS of your follower count - are likely to do anymore than physically see the post. The percentage of those that will do more than press the "like" button and walk away to forget about it is EVEN SMALLER. That's why you rarely see posts with more than 1K likes on pages for GJ creators with thousands of followers - the percentage is that small!
If you're looking to get to creator status, you have be consistent with both experimentation (to see what you feel is right for you) and results (finished work to show off your growth and potential). You always have to be patient as well - it will take time for people to see your work, and even more time for your work to reach the area of people that want to see more of it. You will have to live with a lot of posts/content receiving little to no interaction for days if not weeks if not months on end and still keep pushing as if there were a crowd demanding more everyday.
I have also found that networking with other creators whose content you like may help in this endeavor - frequently giving and receiving ideas and feedback can help expand your capability and potentially create links for everyone's work to be shared. I have found a lot of nice people here who are working just as hard as me, and I will always take a minute to encourage them - to build a community of mutual support.
I'm only saying all of this cos I am tired of seeing devs/artists/creators with interesting ideas just kinda stress and despair about seemingly doing hard work for nothing, if not outright giving up.
Mind yall, I've only recently reset: six years ago I started my current project with nothing but my imagination and over a period of five years, worked my way up to have a dedicated audience. Last year, I lost everything I had built in terms of an online presence, and now that part of the internet has largely forgotten me. It would be really easy to just give up, but I refused, and over 5 months of hard work, I am here now, admittedly past where I was over the last 5 years.
And the kicker: If I work hard, I still expect not to be "BIG" for another five to ten years. Will this be arduous? Yes. Will it stop me? Absolutely NOT.
So if you take anything away from this, let it be that you need to get to work and stay patient. As long as you keep trying, the point you want to reach will be there for you to get. The second you give up, it's GONE.
