Current Update:
There's a lot of new gameplay additions in this patch, I decided to keep things like the damage scaling easy to understand as well as the "stun decay", though they may change a bit in the future. As for the parry mechanic its experimental, will see how much it will change in the future.
Future:
If anyone's wondering the idea is to have 2 more new main player mechanics, one of them is ultimate moves, and the other is an offensive mechanic for starting or extending combos using the same button that is used for parries, the controls for the game will not change after that, my goal then is to refine everything and make it all feel cohesive.
Next Update:
In the next update I'll mostly focus on adding a replay match function to rewatch old matches, this is important because if it works as intended it proves Darklings has determinism and is able to have Rollback netcode, and a working replay function as a bonus.
-General-
Added universal parry - This is an initial version of a parry(Called Blue Frenzy, this naming will make more sense in a later patch), during a succesful Blue Frenzy you gain half an arcana bar, useful against projectiles or on unsafe moves. Executed by pressing P on keyboard or Right Trigger on controller.
Added throw direction -You can now choose which direction to throw the opponent by holding the direction when throwing, useful for regaining corner advantage.
Added command list menu -The command list menu shows all the arcana moves each character has and explains their properties.
Added base damage scaling - The damage scaling is very simple currently, every consecutive hit will get the damage decreased by 0.97%.
Added combo timer - There's currently two combo timers, the yellow one is the normal one which happens when you get a hit, the red one occurs only with heavy attacks and has a smaller combo window.
Improved Bridge stage visuals - Changed bridge stage art to match the temple stage art, will probably continue to do this with the other stages. Art made by Melusaaste
Minor UI visual updates - Minor repositions of UI and minor visual changes for input history.
Minor bug fixes - Minor bug fix for when selecting player controllers, and fixed a bug that would cause the opponent to drop slowly when hitting them in the air during their arcana move.
Please let me know if there's any issues you encounter or any feedback to the current patch.
