"Now's the time, Portal Master!"

Welcome back to Skylands, Portal Master. Things have changed quite a bit since your departure, both for the better and for the worse. But, despite that, there's still one thing that may catch your eyes — the Slayers! So, Portal Master, I say it's time to take a journey into the many realms of Skylands one last time — a journey for both returning Portal Masters and new ones, too, that is!

Prologue

It's been more than a decade since the events of Skylanders: Imaginators, and the realms of Skylands have prospered verily. The Skylanders have been holding the fort while you, the Portal Master, were gone. Additionally, there's a new group of Skylanders to behold — the Slayers! The Slayers are skilled, revered elemental warriors from across Skylands. They fight for more than just to protect Skylands, but also for their own reasons. Because of their heroic deeds, many evil factions across Skylands have remained rather dormant, including Kaos, who's currently being held in Cloudcracker Prison. Well, that is until now. The Dark Void have began their invasion over Skylands. But who are they? Well, we'll have to go way back to the ancient times of Skylands to figure out this fiasco.

During the ancient times of Skylands, there were the Light and Dark Sentinels — they worked with the Giants to grant them the powers of Light and Dark to defeat the Arkeyan Empire. The Light Sentinels used the powers from the Portal Masters and the Dark Sentinels used the powers of The Darkness for good. After the exile of the Giants, the Dark Sentinels were summoned by the Portal Masters for no reason. Little did they realize that the Portal Masters and Light Sentinels were setting up a trap of them, as they feared they would succumb the evilness of The Darkness. They used a Rift Engine to exile the Dark Sentinels to riftspace, where they would spend their time until the SuperChargers' battle with The Darkness.

During their time in riftspace, the Dark Sentinels decided to learn the powers of The Darkness and their hatred for the Portal Masters and Light Sentinels grew. Additionally, the use of Rift Engines by the Skylanders allowed the Dark Sentinels to travel to different dimensions freely via the power of rifts. Soon, around modern times, they found the Dark Void — home of The Darkness himself. The Darkness told the Dark Sentinels they were able to receive a massive power-up, as long as they bring him to Skylands after their own conquest. The Dark Sentinels agreed willingly, and soon began their invasion on Skylands.

Because of his connections with The Darkness, the Dark Sentinels appeared to Kaos after raiding Cloudcracker Prison. They offered the Dark Portal Master a chance to get his powers back, as long as he helps them conquer Skylands, appearing as his humble servants who've a grudge against the disciples of the Light Sentinels and the Portal Master — you. With this new alliance formed, the Dark Sentinels finally made their move into Skylands. Upon their arrival, although only they didn't see it, there's a beacon of light from a certain place in Skylands — the ruins of the Citadel of Light. The Slayers, who did see it, go there to investigate. They learn from scrolls left by the old Portal Masters and Light Sentinels about the Dark Sentinels and their intentions, and that there's a way to defeat them.

And so, the journey of the Slayers begins...

Here, have a Skylanders Slayers related doodle to fill the void while I work on the engine and prototype, but more so the engine.

Base (second image) made by @EMBERMOUSE .

Roly-Poly Skylander Sketch

RK's cooking a new roly-poly Earth Skylander, based off of and inspired by @KetchupWater 's Rolypon species. God, they're adorable as Hell!!

Kaos Render

Needs no introduction... At least outside of Game Jolt.

Hello there and 'salutations', Portal Masters of Game Jolt! I am Sinister, the Fire Slayer of Skylands, and I have taken over @robokingsley 's GJ account for the time being!! >:)

Fire Slayer Reveal

Behold, Sinister the Fire Slayer! He's a pyromaniac, mildly irritable, and on a daring redemption arc... Look, he only commited a few acts of arson and other fire-related crimes prior to becoming a Skylander. But he's good now.

Elemental Gates Concept Art

The Light and Dark Elemental Gates' concepts are still being worked on currently, and so is the game engine! So stayed tuned, or whatever they say these days... W-Wait, no, NOT whatever they say these days. Hell nah.

Concept Art Dump

Some concept art for things such as a few of the Slayers (Gearhart and the Water Slayer), as well as a few enemies and bosses.

I apologize if the image quality is bad.

Now's the time, Portal Master! Time for Skylanders: Slayers to begin its official devlog! It's time to take a journey into the many realms of Skylands — a journey for both returning Portal Masters and new ones, too, that is!
