A vent system 😄

The idea is that these will be less dangerous paths to take at night. You just have to befriend/bribe the denizens of the vents to unlock the best pathways. .
And you can't unlock the entrance to the vents without the screwdriver

There are also some splash details and ripple effects but they probably can't be seen because of Game Jolt's compression quality.
