The game's creator Greg Lobanov confirmed Ash is non-binary and said it just felt natural to include non-binary folks in the game.

I made a playlist thing for TRTBN, it's sort of like the Music to go Postal by playlist where it's various artists, I couldn't find that much songs about robots killing you so I just put songs that I think would fit in.
