This is partially why I wanted to switch to Tilemaps. They are capable of stuff like THIS. Now I'm able to recreate any sort of lighting, any time of day, within any location that I create.

Now the player can block enemy melee attacks both directionally (as seen in the first gif) and statically, for that extra bit of flair

Hello! It's been a bit, but this project is back to the top of my priority list.
And Godot 4 released, which means that I have a great chance to clean up my project by remaking it from scratch!
